Spending your vacations in Méribel is a deliberate choice! We had to decide between the very sporty Val Thorens and Les Ménuires, and the very upmarket Courchevel, before choosing this resort at the heart of the vast Les Three Valleys !

What are Méribel's strengths?

Do you like the ambience of valley bottoms, with their wooded slopes rising towards the peaks? Then Méribel is the place for you.

If you like forests where you can ski even in bad weather, then you've made the right choice.

And if you like wooden buildings, both in the style of the traditional modern chalet and in the style of resorts that have made an effort to keep buildings discreet, low and clad in wood, then once again you've got it right.

That's what Méribelis all about : four villages in onevalley, surrounded by beautiful forests on the steep slopes.

Les Allues, Village, Centre and Mottaret, between 1100m and 1700m.

The valley's strong point, of course, is its location at the heart of the Trois Vallées ski area. Three Valleys! This means it's easy to get to the Courchevel and Val Thorens ski areas in no time at all. Val Thorens-Les Ménuires. And for skiers who love hurtling down kilometers of piste all day long, that's advantage number one!

If you're looking for a chalet or chalet accommodation, we recommend Méribel Village or Les Allues, with their succession of chalets on the sunny side of the valley.

If you're looking for the resort town, with all the amenities and facilities that non-skiers can enjoy, I'd definitely recommend Méribel Centre. It's also the arrival point for many forest trails. At a mid-mountain altitude (1450m), the resort is easy to get to, and offers both apartment blocks and charming chalets. Beginner skiers can learn to ski in excellent conditions.

Finally, if you're looking for a resort where you can ski from dawn to dusk and take advantage of the magnificent Les Trois Vallées ski area, you've come to the right place. Trois ValléesIf you're looking for a resort where you can ski from morning till night and enjoy the magnificent Trois Vallées ski area, then Méribel Mottaret is the place for you. Skiing here is sporty, the returns to the village are steep and the Mont Vallon slopes are within spatula range.

All types of skiing are possible at Méribel. The resort is nestled in a valley overhung by peaks with more than a thousand meters of vertical drop, so the slopes are inevitably long. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy your runs and take in the magnificent ridge scenery. You'll be skiing in the heart of the Vanoise massif, surrounded by some of the finest peaks in the Savoy Alps.

The western side of the resort, overlooking the Tougnète and Mont de la Chambre mountains and beyond to the Belleville valley (Val Thorens and Les Ménuires), where the sun shines in the morning and the shade in the afternoon, allows you to ski in beautiful forests, and is very practical in bad weather.

The east side, which faces Courchevel , is sunny in the afternoon and features very long runs with some interesting walls on the red runs. There's a lot of traffic, however, and the slopes tend to get a bit rough at the end of the day.

For experts, the Pas du Lac (to the east), Côte Brune to the west and especially Mont Vallon are fantastic playgrounds above Méribel Mottaret.

The Saulire and Tougnete sectors are recommended for skiers who are more interested in beautiful runs than in the percentage of the slope, with pleasant outlets towards Courchevel or Les Ménuires.
