The first cold snaps of November are making themselves felt, and the desire to get back on the ski slopes is starting to itch all skiers. The question is, which ski resorts in the Alps offer skiing in November?
Most ski resorts open their pistes at the beginning of December, often on the first weekend. In 2024, this weekend falls on November 30. Let's focus in this article on those ski resorts that open in November.
Ski resorts with areas at very high altitudes, or with lifts providing access to glaciers, are either opening this month or have already opened. Resorts such as Breuil and Zermatt, or Val Senales and the Pitztal, to name but a few.
However, most resorts and ski areas will in fact start by opening the well-snowed runs at altitude and on the glaciers, then gradually expand the domain as the snow cover improves in December. This is the case for French ski resorts such as Tignes and Val Thorens, for example, and the others mentioned in this article.
Some resorts, such as Verbier and its ski area, sometimes choose to open their ski areas on the weekends preceding the official opening, often scheduled for early December. In 2024, current snow conditions at the beginning of November mean that we can't anticipate this type of opening before the second half of the month, in the hope of good snowfalls.
Country by country, let's take a look at the ski resorts in the Alps that open in November.
