It only takes a few kilometers to feel like you've changed regions.

From ChambéryThe road quickly leaves the Bassens and Saint-Alban-Leysse districts. It begins to climb towards the first foothills of the Bauges mountains. Continuing along the road beyond Curienne, you quickly reach La Thuile.

The landscape gradually changes. Open spaces become larger, forests more prevalent, and meadows more mountainous. You truly feel like you're penetrating deeper into the Bauges massif.

La Thuile It has a special charm. The village is organized around a few houses, farms, and meadows that seem to have always been there. It's a small hamlet at almost 900 meters altitude on the edge of a small, refreshing lake.

Winter there is often harsher than in Curienne. The snow lasts longer and the landscapes quickly take on the appearance of an alpine postcard.

In summer, on the contrary, the alpine pastures and clearings offer a particularly pleasant feeling of calm and coolness.

La Thuile is also an excellent starting point for several hiking trails in the Bauges mountains. The Col du Mont trail, which leads to the Watchtower Rock, overlooking the Combe de Savoie, offers beautiful panoramic views of the Belledonne massif, the Lauzière and in the distance, the summit of Mont Blanc.

A gateway to the tourist Bauges

Curian It also constitutes a remarkable base camp for exploring the entire mountain range.

In just fifteen minutes, you can reach the plateaus of La Féclaz and Savoy Grand RevardIn winter, more than 150 kilometers of Nordic ski trails are maintained there. In summer, these same plateaus become a vast area for hiking and mountain biking.

Continuing southeast, the road leads to Aillons-Margeriaz.

This family-friendly resort in the Bauges mountains has a very different character from Le Revard. The large limestone cliffs of Margeriaz dominate the landscape and give a more pronounced impression of an alpine mountain.

There are many hiking trails, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing routes in winter.

This immediate proximity to the main tourist sites of the Bauges is one of Curienne's great assets.

You can live in the mountains without ever running out of ideas for walks or activities.

Why Curienne is a great place to live

The answer ultimately lies within a few minutes' drive.

Descending towards the valley, the shopping center of Bassens It can be reached in fifteen to twenty minutes depending on traffic conditions. Chambéry and its services are barely further away.

And yet, when we go back up to Curienne in the evening, we really feel like we're returning to the mountains.

The difference is particularly noticeable in winter.

Snow sometimes appears as early as the first hairpin bends, after Barby. The roofs quickly turn white, the meadows are covered with a blanket of snow and the atmosphere changes completely.

Summer brings the opposite contrast. When the heat settles in the Chambéry basin, Curienne enjoys more pleasant temperatures and remarkably cool evenings.

The town has the main daily services and benefits from the immediate proximity of the entire Chambéry metropolitan area.
